One Love San Francisco - June 15th, 2013

As you may know, I love practicing yoga and this year I have decided to take my practice off the mat! I’m excited to be participating in OneLove San Francisco, a yoga benefit class for the Ecuadorian Amazon that my great friend Kristine has organized, in collaboration with the national yoga organization, Off the Mat,Into the World (OTM). OTM uses the power of yoga to inspire conscious, sustainable activism and to ignite grassroots social change. Kristine and I met during an OTM leadership training last year.
I’m excited to take action and support Kristine in her effort. As part of my participation, I have agreed to raise at least $108 for the Ecuadorian Amazon. I’m writing to ask you to donate to my fundraiser.
I will take part in a special two-hour yoga class taught by 12 inspiring teachers. It’s a unique opportunity to experience multiple teachers in one class. The class takes place this Saturday, June 15th, and I can’t wait! If you are in the SF Bay area please join us at Dogpatch Wineworks from 10am-12pm.
The Amazon rainforest is home to half of all life on Earth. The Ecuadorian Amazon has the highest rate of deforestation in the region, losing 2.1% of its rainforest each year. Albert Einstein once said that the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. If we allow this culturally and ecologically fragile region of the Amazon to be drilled for oil, we know what will happen. History has already taught us that. The question is will we allow history to repeat itself?
To learn more watch this informative 10 minute video that was on NBC:

Visit NBCNews.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

Even if you are not able to make the event, please consider making a donation today. Your donation will go to grassroots organizations in Ecuador who are working to provide clean drinking water for indigenous and farmer communities in Ecuador’s Northern Amazon; build a rural medical center for families living in remote areas of the rainforest; and build two open classrooms for Amazon youth.
Your donation of any amount is tax deductible. (Off the Mat, Into the World federal tax #59-3841326.)
There are three ways to donate:
1.      Online at my fundraise.com page
2.      Checks made out to Off the Mat, Into the World
3.      Cash

Thank you for reading and taking the time to consider how you can help. Even keeping yourself informed is helpful. I appreciate your support!!

Much LOVE from SF,
Brianna

California living

Although it's been nearly 9 months since my trip, I've continued my explorations locally. California has so many wonderful places to visit! Including the above photograph - only a 25 minute drive from my doorstep in SF.

I've made a promise to myself to stay grounded and put in San Francisco for at least a year. I'm almost there too. That's a big deal for me, as in my previous work life I was on the road too. It's been wonderful to sleep in my own bed, cook meals, spend time with all my friends & be able to discover more about SF and myself.

Another Sankalpa (intention) I'm working towards  is reconnecting with myself and nature. I found this article "We are all creative: slow down to connect to yourself" to be very inspiring.

I  have a tendency to be doing 50 things at once (don't we all?) - texting somebody, while listening to music, while brushing me teeth & making tea. Ok maybe not that much....but multi-tasking has become 2nd nature, as if to be efficient I must multi-task! When in reality, I crave time spent slowing down a bit, going for a walk & observing the details. There's so much beauty in the details if I take the time to enjoy it. I encourage you all to hold me accountable to my Sankalpa. Slow me down, join me on a hike & share any hidden gems you've discovered in the  SF bay area.

I do have some great domestic adventures coming up - Nashville, Hawaii & Austin. I'm looking forward to exploring these cities and capturing the beauty in the details around my own country.

Don't you all worry, I'm scheming for some more international travels in the near future. Details to come....

Hasta luego,
Brianna

One Year Anniversary. Whoa.

Today is my one year anniversary from my departure last year (actually it was yesterday but our internet is shit and was dragging when I went to upload photographs). I can't believe it's already been 365 days since I left for my 5 month adventure. I know I haven't post anything since the end of this epic journey, so I thought to play catch up I'd share some of my favorite memories from post-travels.
The last 6 months a lot has happened - I've left Uncle D (Deloitte) and started a new job with a local boutique consulting firm where I'm able to work in SF. No more 100% travel and never sleeping in my own bed. This summer was pretty rad, a lot of music, couple bachelorette parties & weddings! Live music was definitely something I missed while travelling. Anyway enough with the chit chat, onto the photographs!

Remember this? I sure do :-) Feels like ages ago, but then again also feels like I was just struggling to pack my life into that green bag!
